The Beauty and Meaning of Milagros

Milagros (Spanish for "miracle") or ex-voto (from "my vow" in Latin) are small charms (small metal religious charms) found in many areas of Latin America, especially Mexico and Peru. Milagros are generally made of gold, silver, copper or brass. These small charms, often depicting arms, legs, praying people, farm animals and a wide range of other subjects are carried or worn for protection and good luck. The faithful believe they are endowed with spiritual powers, which when offered to a saint can heal and help preserve overall well-being.
